San Francisco Classical Voice Reviews “The History Channel”

Joe Cadagin speaks about how his childhood fear that everyone around him would start speaking a language that he couldn’t understand came true at OM 23’s presentation of “The History Channel” on Wednesday April 16th. Wednesday’s concert featured experimental pieces from the early 20th century, providing a historical context for the contemporary sound poems that were performed over the week-long festival. In his review, Joe speaks highly of Other Minds own Randall Wong and his performance of Cathy Berberian’s Stripsody. He also applauds the Dutch sound poet Jaap Blonk on his performance, from memory, of Kurt Schwitter’s masterpiece, Ursonate.
