This program features music using new or unconventional forms of notation, from historical, mid-20th century music to currently-developing forms of notations using new technologies. Included are David Tudor’s performance of Variations II by John Cage, the Swiss Ensemble Neue Horizonte Bern’s performances of December 1952 by Earle Brown and Durations 2 by Morton Feldman, and James Ilgenfritz’s performance of Compositions 223(2)+LM+40F+223(4)+110A by Anthony Braxton. Also, the “living score” of Lei Liang’s Six Seasons, performed by the Mivos Quartet; Linda Bouchard’s Ocular Scores in Gathering, performed by Ensemble TriOcular +; and the animated scores of Cat Hope’s Majority of One and Chunk by, performed by Decibel.
