This program surveys a range of music released in recent weeks from around the world, starting and ending with two recordings, made 56 years apart, of Morton Feldman’s The Possibility of a New Work for Electric Guitar by Christian Wolff and Wendy Eisenberg. Also included are British-Iranian composer Soosan Lolavar’s diaspora-focused I am the Spring, You are the Earth performed by Ruthless Jabiru, Norwegian composer Øyvind Torvund’s playful Sweet Pieces performed by the Oslo Philharmonic, selections from Egyptian composer Nada El Shazly’s score to the film The Damned Don’t Cry, and four pieces from Movses Pogossian’s monumental new 4-disc set of Armenian chamber music by Artur Avanesov, Tigran Mansurian, Vache Sharafyan, and Koharik Gazarossian.
